Lueneburg, Germany, March 25, 2010 - Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software provider Werum Software & Systems has successfully finalized the installation of PAS-X MES in AstraZeneca's Wuxi site in the Jiangsu Province, China. This first-time MES project in the Chinese pharmaceutical industry follows an employment of Werum's PAS-X MES software in AstraZeneca's Indian production site in Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) in 2009.
Both MES projects are part of AstraZeneca's global MES manufacturing IT strategy aiming at Operational Excellence for their manufacturing operations.
Werum's PAS-X MES Weighing & Dispensing (W&D) is the key element for the introduction of standardized business processes in AstraZeneca's central weighing and dispensing operations. The software brings about significant improvements in efficiency, performance and an enhancement of the right-first-time factor for weighing, materials management, as well as quality control. PAS-X is connected in real-time to AstraZeneca's central Asia-Pacific SAP ERP-system which is located in Singapore.
The MES software introduces electronic material management in W&D and equipment management for the scales in that area, including the daily calibration of the scales. It enables order-related material tracking for the W&D process and ensures GMP compliance as defined in the FDA, SFDA and EU-GMP guidelines. PAS-X helps reduce operator errors and deviations by electronically supported and guided workflows including plausibility checks and electronically parameterized specifications.
Both MES projects in India and China have been put into practice by Werum and its local partners. The MES projects were supported by Werum's comprehensive PAS-X Services - beginning with the initial consulting, followed by installation, testing, validation, and training services.
